Today, Zendesk is happy to announce that it now has 10,000 customers. Big milestone for us and a good occasion to pat ourselves on the back.
In our first 18 months, we reached 1,000 customers. In the following 13 months after that, we grew to reach 5,000 customers. And less than 11 months after that milestone, we’ve doubled our customer base to 10,000!
Great achievement by our new San Francisco team, who have all but burst the seams of our 410 Townsend offices. Great achievement by our London office too: they now boast more than 2,000 customers in Europe, almost half of which are in the UK alone. And of course kudos to our APAC team too, which is getting very close to its 1,000 customer milestone.
Beyond celebrating ourselves, it’s a good occasion to celebrate our customers. We believe that Zendesk is a great product that can help companies transform their customer support services and scale to internet-grade support operations.
But the real heroes here are the companies that take on the challenge of supercharging their fast growing companies with customer service of unprecedented levels. Companies like Airbnb that in less than three years have completely disrupted how people find lodging for their vacations and travels, and have garnered millions of users worldwide. Or a company like Dropbox, whose product has become a de facto standard for file collaboration. And where its MIT-grade support team is renowned for its awesome support services, while still being able to deal with up to 500 support requests per agent, per day! Or what about Groupon, whose growth rate is so mind boggling that it is almost unreal how they’re still capable of providing world-class personal support. You can read more about how Groupon does it in this white paper.
These are the real heroes to whom we owe it all. Without companies raising the bar and rewriting the agenda for what customer support and service means as a competitive differentiator, Zendesk wouldn’t have experienced anywhere near the growth rates that we have.
Zendesk customers have helped more than 30 million people worldwide. Every day, more than 150,000 people are in contact with a Zendesk help desk, and 10,000 companies from more than 100 countries rely on Zendesk for their support and service. We’ve tried to illustrate the world-wide impact of Zendesk in this live map showing real time updates to Zendesk tickets from users and customers all over the world.
Thanks to all our customers for celebrating this milestone with us today. We have a lot more in store for this year, and we look forward to being able to share all of our new and exciting developments as we move along together.
