We’re happy to announce initial support for Fluid. Fluid is a “site specific browser” for OS X, which allows users to create a stand alone browser for e.g. Zendesk. This means you get neat launch icon, and more interesting, we get to send you notifications on OS level, for example a Growl notification once you have a new ticket.
Setting up Fluid is really easy. Download the app, and configure it for your domain. My configuration is displayed on the left, all you need to do is to change that to your own Zendesk URL.
I use our trusty mascot Buddhy as icon for my Fluid/Zendesk browser, you can get Buddhy here.
Once I’ve launched my Fluid Zendesk instance and logged in as an agent, I get a nice icon in the dock with a badge showing my count of assigned tickets, and a Growl notification on the current Zendesk support account status.
We also Growl when you get assigned to a ticket or a new ticket gets created in Zendesk. Great fun – and thanks to Dana Janssen for asking for Fluid support!
Perhaps one day pure envy will drive Alexander to build something similar for Windows using Prism.
