Zendesk has released its first-ever Climate Risk Report. The report provides a clear view of the company’s approach to governance, risks and opportunities, corporate strategies, as well as metrics and targets – all in the face of climate change and in support of the shift towards a net zero world. It marks a significant stride in the company’s commitment to trust and transparency around its climate impact.
“We know that climate change can impact the success of our company, our suppliers, our customers, and our communities. That’s why climate is a key component of our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program and our business resilience strategies.” said Aline Ng, head of Internal Audit and Risk Management at Zendesk. “This report represents our commitment to properly tracking and managing the climate risks relevant to Zendesk. With it, we can evolve our risk mitigation plans and adaptation strategies to make real progress on our ambitious decarbonization goals and play a meaningful role in improving the state of the world.”
The report is grounded in a robust climate risk assessment in partnership with an environmental consultancy and cross-functional teams at Zendesk. It supplements the company’s forthcoming Global Impact Report, which summarizes Zendesk’s comprehensive efforts around Environmental Social, and Governance (ESG). The Climate Risk Report also aligns with the leading standard Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). TCFD is now part of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and was originally set up by the Financial Stability Board (FSB). TCFD aims to enhance how companies report on climate issues and help investors and stakeholders understand the climate-related risks and opportunities businesses encounter.
In addition to its Climate Risk Report, Zendesk’s latest sustainability and ESG progress also includes:
- Achieving a carbon neutral product commitment
- A commitment to minimize the carbon footprint of its AI products and features
- Support for permanent carbon removal by joining the Frontier community
- Signing the company’s first carbon removal offtake agreement with Charm Industrial
- Setting 1.5ºC-aligned science-based targets, approved by the SBTi
