Yesterday, as we sat here toiling away on our quest to build the best damn Danish-founded help desk available, we had a surprise visit from Mark Laret, CEO of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center. Putting aside how underdressed we were, Mark and his team set about telling us their plans for the new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, including all sorts of interesting facts about patient experience research, design and fundraising.
The new hospital will cost approximately $1.5 billion and be the crown jewel of the UCSF hospital network. As a consistent top 10-ranked hospital nationwide, we know it’s going to take patient care to new heights, especially after Kathleen Balesteri, executive director of patient services, told us about their ongoing research into how to make patients more comfortable. We pride ourselves on our ability to plan for growth, but the UCSF team blows us out of the water. Their vision and ability to execute, combined with our integration with Salesforce and admiration of their charitable efforts, such as the Salesforce Foundation, is why we’ve signed on to raise $1 million for the UCSF Benioff Children’s hospital. Our CEO, Mikkel Svane, is a father and client of UCSF who, much like Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff, believes in their vision. Unfortunately, Mikkel doesn’t yet have $100 million to donate like Mr. Benioff so graciously did, so we’re donating within our means.
We’re still waiting to launch our fundraising effort, but rest assured that it’s coming in the near future and will have a big announcement attached to it. Until then, we’re happy to have Mark and anyone else at UCSF stop by for a visit. Next time, we’ll try to wear collared shirts…
Our staff listens as Mark Laret, CEO of UCSF Medical Center, shows us the plans for their new medical center.
