Zendesk to Launch Data Centre in Germany to Serve European Customers

February 23, 2015

Newest Investment Shows Commitment to Local Market

BERLIN, GERMANY – February 24, 2015 – Zendesk Inc. (NYSE: ZEN) today announced plans to launch a new European data centre in Frankfurt beginning in the second quarter of 2015 as it continues to expand the number of organisations using its customer service platform in Germany and throughout Europe.

Zendesk will be one of the first U.S.-based cloud software companies to operate a data centre in Germany, underscoring its commitment to serve German customers and provide them with more options for where customer data is hosted. The new data centre comes after Zendesk previously invested in the German market with the opening of an official office in Berlin and expansion of the local team.

“The new data centre is a significant milestone for Zendesk in Germany and more widely throughout Europe,” said Adrian McDermott, senior vice president of product development at Zendesk. “It will allow us to continue to grow rapidly and serve the needs of our expanding base of enterprise customers in Germany and throughout Europe.”

Zendesk is responding to the increasing demand by customers to understand and control where their data is hosted. The new data centre will provide enterprise customers with operations in Germany the option to have data on the Zendesk customer service platform hosted, persistently stored and backed up within Germany.

The Frankfurt data centre will join Zendesk’s first European data centre opened in March 2013 in Dublin. With two European data centres, Zendesk will have more options for replicating data and providing disaster recovery within the European Union.

“Our focus is on increasing our commitment to the German market and the customers we work with here,” said Steffen Teske, director for central and eastern Europe at Zendesk. “We are pleased to be able to repay their trust and loyalty in us by investing in a new data centre that serves their business requirements and needs for local hosting.”

Notable German customers of Zendesk include Deutsche Post, eDarling and Rewe Online. Zendesk’s international revenues have grown considerably, representing approximately 45 percent of revenues for the quarter ended December 31, 2014. Zendesk’s EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region, which includes the European Union, is the largest of Zendesk’s international sales regions. The company has European offices in Berlin, Dublin, London and Copenhagen.
