Zendesk and CRMs: the total package

Zendesk is a fantastic customer support tool, but in order to use it you first need customers. For that, many of our customers use a customer relationship management (CRM) tool, which they integrate with Zendesk to help keep sales and support on the same page.

What is a CRM?
CRM software is used predominantly by sales and marketing divisions to keep track of interested parties’ details and follow-up with them periodically. (The exact functionality varies by vendor and use case.) CRMs are a must for any company that calls on customers, because they help provide insight on the sales cycle.

Zendesk’s tool of choice, and perhaps the best known in the industry, is Salesforce.com. But there are many other available solutions that integrate with Zendesk, including:

  • HighRise (by 37signals)
  • SugarCRM
  • BatchBook
  • GetSatisfaction
  • NetSuite
  • Solve360

    I will maybe sound stupid here as I know there is very little, if no chance that this is gona happen, but I like Zendesk so much and all the CRM that I found are lacking some of the features that I love in Zendesk that I would love that Zendesk adds a CRM functionality. Not the kind that salesforce do (I know you don’t want to compete). Just an easy and straightforward way of doing a CRM for small organisations.

    With just a “few” changes, you could do it: for a given user, you would be able to create a “Support Ticket”, just as now, but also to create an “Opportunity”, which would behave just as a ticket, but with some different fields that are used for Opportunities, such as the status “opened, closed, won, etc…”, amount,..

    Add the possibility to add more comments on an organisation or user + some CRM oriented report + mailchimp integration for mass mailing for example and you would have us on board for an additional subscription!

    Pierre,
    I’m wondering if some version of this could be accomplished with the tags feature in Zendesk. Sure, it wouldn’t allow for lead to opportunity conversion, but you could create views for leads created in the last week, opportunities with the “won” or “lost” tag in the last month, etc. I think it would just mean a bit more work on the sales rep’s end, but it seems like this kind of workaround might be doable.

    Svein, you could build a SyncApps or build your own integration on Zapier.com using their API if you like which seems pretty easy to do if you have a LimePro API.
