Environmental Sustainability at Zendesk
Creating a sustainable future together
At Zendesk, we recognise that the environment is the key stakeholder and feel the urgency to take climate action. That's why we're committed to decarbonising our value chain and contributing to the world's progress towards a net zero future.
We reduce our value chain emissions by optimising our own operations and engaging our suppliers.
We mitigate our residual emissions by purchasing an increasing amount of high-quality carbon offsets.
We use our financial resources to accelerate carbon removal technologies and progress towards a net zero economy.
Aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
At Zendesk, we tap into the unique power of our company to tackle climate change — our offices, our data hosting, our employee travel and our supply chain. We have made great progress over the past few years.
Since 2019, we've reduced our office electricity consumption by 44 percent. And we achieved our 100 per cent renewable energy goal by purchasing utility-provided clean energy and high-quality Energy Attributes Certificates (EAC) equivalent to the amount of electricity consumption in our global offices.
We work with our cloud service providers to add cloud capacity to the regions operating on the cleanest electricity grids, and mitigate an increasing amount of data hosting emissions over the past few years.
Our digital-first policy continues to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our employees' business travel. Since 2019, we've reduced our business travel emissions by 97 per cent.
In our Supplier Code of Conduct, we encourage our suppliers to set their own climate targets, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and disclose their environmental data publicly.Read our supplier code of conduct
Carbon removal investing
We know that carbon reduction is not enough. That's why we invest in nature-based solutions and engineering-focused technologies to remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere.
