Zendesk Announces New iPhone App for iOS 4 as App Nears 50,000 Downloads; New release enables agents to embrace customer support via Twitter

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 27, 2010 – Zendesk, a web-based customer support software provider, announced the availability of an updated version of the Zendesk application for iPhone with iOS 4 compatibility. Available free on Apple’s App Store and with downloads now nearing 50,000, Zendesk for iPhone helps agents manage support tickets directly from their mobile device.

“The iOS 4 compatibility has been among the most requested updates Zendesk has ever received, ” said Mikkel Svane, CEO of Zendesk. “When the initial iPhone app was launched in April 2010, it was downloaded more than 10,000 times in the first week and we’re now approaching 50,000 downloads in only four months, making Zendesk the most wide-spread customer support app available for iPhone.”

Zendesk’s mobile applications give agents the same visibility into their company’s ticket activity as they would using Zendesk on a desktop or laptop, and allows them to offer great customer support — anywhere, anytime. Customers can view, update, and create new support tickets from their phones as well as easily modify ticket fields and add comments with the touch-friendly application.

The new version adds key capabilities and improvements:

  • iOS 4 optimized application including multi-tasking support and high resolution graphics for the iPhone 4’s Retina display

  • Twitter integration so agents can easily identify a twicket — a Zendesk ticket created from Twitter — and tweet back to the requester publicly or via direct message

  • Access to ticket requester information including name, date, and monitored Twitter account with one tap

“The Zendesk iPhone app is the first thing I look at every morning, ” said Danielle Morrill, Director of Marketing for Twilio. “Being able to monitor, triage, and respond to customers anytime anywhere in the world is crucial in keeping our developer community happy.”

Zendesk for iPhone is available as a free download from Apple’s App Store on iPhone or at http://www.itunes/com/appstore.
